It’s not just to get exotic destinations that we’re itching to sign up to Eye Photographic Workshops, which take place in locations from London to Lamu. It’s to learn, with a pro, how to take travel shots, and learn to download and edit them.

Drop anchor at a deserted loch in the Western Highlands of Scotland and spend five days capturing seals, stags and feathered beauties on camera, with Eye’s (eyephotographicworkshops.com) new trip. Days are spent climbing heather covered hills, exploring nearby beaches, baking bread and cooking locally caught fish for communal dinners at the lodge.

It was, therefore, from a position of ignorance that I embarked on Michael Potter’s Eye Photographic Workshop in Mallorca. However, any fears that I had were put to rest when we arrived at the Potters’ exquisite town house in Pollensa on the north-eastern part of the island, a 40-minute drive from Palma airport. Featuring tall doorways, original wooden shutters and tiles and a roof terrace looking out over the town, it was inspiring and welcoming.
